Abintra Montessori School

Abintra, the first Montessori elementary school in Nashville, opened its doors to nine students in 1981 as an independent, nonprofit, educational organization with a mission to operate “in accordance with the principles and philosophies of Montessori education to provide an educational process grounded both in respect for the individual child and in the belief that children have an internal motivation to exercise and develop their mental, physical, and emotional abilities.” To this day, Abintra provides a quality educational alternative for children by applying the principles of Montessori education, only now it serves both preschool children and middle school adolescents, in addition to the elementary students it was founded to educate.
